A vibrant, refreshing fruit salad with a spicy, salty, and tangy kick. This isn’t your average fruit cup—it’s a flavor adventure inspired by the street vendors of Mexico. Perfect for a hot day or a light, zesty dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large mango, ripe and fragrant, peeled and cubed
  • 2 large oranges, peeled and cubed
  • ½ small pineapple, peeled, cored, and cubed
  • 1 large jícama, peeled and cubed
  • 4 cups watermelon, peeled and cubed
  • 2 medium cucumbers, peeled and cubed
  • 3 limes (for juice and garnish)
  • Tajín or chili powder (to taste)
  • Chamoy, Valentina, or other hot sauce (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Fruit: Cut all the fruit into uniform cubes or spears. Make sure everything is fresh and firm for the best texture.
  2. Assemble the Cups: Grab four clear glasses or cups. Layer the fruit, alternating colors to make each cup look beautiful.
  3. Add Lime: Squeeze a generous amount of fresh lime juice over the fruit in each cup.
  4. Finish with Toppings: Drizzle Chamoy or hot sauce over the fruit. Sprinkle generously with Tajín or chili powder.
  5. Serve: Garnish each cup with a lime wedge and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Serving Suggestions: These cups are a great standalone snack but also work well as a light dessert after a big meal, like tacos or burritos.
  • Tips & Tricks: Use a mix of fruits that are both sweet and crunchy, like jicama and watermelon, to get that perfect balance of flavor and texture. For a milder version, just use a small amount of chili powder. Want more heat? Add extra hot sauce!
  • Storage: You can chop the fruit up to a day in advance and store it in separate airtight containers in the fridge. Do not add the toppings until you are ready to serve, as they can make the fruit soggy over time. This recipe is best enjoyed fresh and cold.
