A modern and zesty twist on classic avocado toast. This isn’t just a snack—it’s a flavor-packed, spicy kick-start to your day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe Hass avocados
  • 1 red chili, deseeded and finely chopped
  • 2 medium spring onions, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • Juice of 2 fresh limes
  • Sea salt flakes, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices of sturdy bread (like sourdough or multigrain)

Instructions

  1. Prep the avocado: Slice the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the creamy flesh into a bowl.
  2. Add the flavor: Add the chopped chili, spring onions, and garlic to the bowl.
  3. Mash it up: Pour in the lime juice, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Use a fork to mash everything together. I like mine chunky, but you can mash it more for a smoother texture.
  4. Toast your bread: Pop your favorite bread into the toaster until it’s perfectly golden brown. A sturdy bread works best to hold all that delicious guac.
  5. Assemble and serve: Spread a generous layer of the spicy guacamole on each slice of toast. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Serving Suggestions: This toast is a superstar on its own, but it also pairs great with a fried or poached egg on top. Feeling fancy? Add a sprinkle of feta cheese or some toasted pumpkin seeds.
  • Tips & Tricks: The key to great guacamole is fresh lime juice—don’t use the bottled stuff! And remember to taste as you go. You can always add more salt, but you can’t take it away.
  • Storage: Guacamole tastes best fresh. If you have leftovers, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface to keep air out and prevent browning. It will last in the fridge for about a day, but the texture might change a little.
